Haugen`s Chicken & Rib Bbq in Oshawa

Last year, I went near the end of the season and got sick. Though I was afraid to try it again I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and food quality. I can strongly reccomend but would still be wary near the end of the fall season.

We went here driving back from T.O. to MTL because we had seen it in the tv show you gotta eat here...was exactly what we expected...calorie fest!!!! Yummy!

Have always loved dining here! Food is fantastic and we love the BBQ sauce. This time we got our food to go and substituted salads for the French fries. Soooooo good!

Really good, but overhyped. Great food, but not to die for

Used to be great 20 years ago. Chicken was awful when we went. Was so disappointed. It was a hot spot in its day.

They have been established since 1953. So that says a lot about the restaurant. Very old fashioned, great service. They have half chicken, quarter dinner which comes with your choice of sauces, a homemade dinner roll and your choice of one side french fries, baked potato or garden salad. There is also Rib dinners, various sandwiches &wraps such as pulled pork, chicken salad wrap etc. Starters such as homemade chicken soup, various salads, garlic bread with cheese or without. 100%pure beef Hamburgers with your choice of sides. To end an good old fashioned meal handmade pies by the slice or 10" whole pies. Of course there are various beverages. No alcoholic beverages.

This place is awesome that’s all I can say. Take a nice scenic relaxing drive from the City and visit yet another great family run restaurant. Casual with plenty of seating and an awesome staff that always seems happy to serve you. Prices are reasonable, portions are good and the food is fresh and delicious. Fan favourites are the Chicken Noodle Soup, Juicy Rotisserie Chicken, Fall off the bone Ribs, Coleslaw, Fresh Cut Fries along with their warm homemade sauce. Oh and try to leave some room for their Coconut Cream Pie, it’s a winner.

This was my first time going here, and I am honestly disappointed. I went here after hearing so many good things about it, and I left hungry. I ordered the ham steak, which was very thin and small, not a big thick piece that the advertise. I barely got any salad with it. Just order the fries. At least you will get something. My 9 year old got a bigger dinner for less money. The saving grace was the coconut cream pie. If that hadn't been so tasty, this restaurant would have gotten a 2 for sure. Very disappointed over all.

My family has been eating at this restaurant for many years, even when we lived some distance away. Recently we went there for dinner with our 2 year old son and our server, Lisa was great with him! He's a shy guy and she was friendly but not overbearing which kept him happy and calm through dinner. He even waved goodbye as we left and he never does this to strangers! Thank you for providing such a great experience every time!

Food and service are always incredible. Always fast and friendly. Cannot reccomend them enough!!!

Very nice people and very nice food

The place is known for its chicken, it's a pretty good place and it was featured on the food network. The menu has a lot of choice and its definitely older. Pretty good place, price was ok.

Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing price. Able to accommodate a team of hungry players and parents 20+ just walking in with no notice.. Not a single mistake on the bill or the orders.. Awesome. Must try the pies after the rack is done lol.. Not to be outdone by the chicken.... Kudos to this crew, owner should be proud....

It was ok. I was not a big fan of the rib sauce at all. Tasted like tomato sauce with honey. The chicken was ok but a little dry for my taste. The fries were awesome. Well cooked and delicious. The waitress was very friendly

We just happened to stop in on our way to our cottage. So glad we did. Delicious food and super friendly staff. And fast service! It's very quaint but actually quite large inside. Even though the parking indicated that we might have a wait, there was still plenty of room inside, so no wait. Had the banquet burger with fries. I don't usually have bacon on my burger because it usually seems to be more fat than meat but the bacon on this burger really added great flavor. We'll definitely be back!

Good old style like homemade food from scratch

Might be the best ribs I've ever had. Make reservations or come early as the place is packed and for good reason. Great chicken and even better ribs, oh and don't forget about the delicious pie selections either. A must go if you are close by.

Haugen’s makes very good chicken! The ribs are very good too, though outmatched in Port Perry by the Smokehouse. Servers are usually very friendly. Personally, I think the “country-style” dipping sauce for chicken is gross and tastes like tomato soup, but there is another option which is good. It’s cool to go somewhere that was apparently my great-grandmother’s favourite restaurant (back in the ‘50s-‘60s).

Excellent restaurant that has maintained its awesome food over my lifetime. You know it is a great place when you go there to eat again after years and it is just good as you remembered. We celebrated my parent's 60th wedding anniversary there and they seated 27 of us. Service was personal and lovely, food was great; not a single complaint from any of us. Some say this place is over rated???? What ever! I think not!

Chicken is good. Their supposed home made barbecue sauce is absolutely terrible. Tastes just like ketchup to me.

I like the fact it's a family run business. The food was good, service was good, atmosphere was good, lots of space. I didn't have the ribs, because I went at lunchtime with the family, so I cant speak on them, but we are planning to return sometime for dinner in the future so that should let you know its worth a revisit.

Passing though on the way to the cottage thought I’d try it out, great location nice old time feel. Got the chicken sandwich to go, even though it was delicious felt that the price didn’t reflect the quality of time put into it. Looked like leftovers I reheated in the microwave, and for over $10 bucks it was pretty disappointing.The sauce was amazing!

Ordered the quarter chicken and left hungry. Tasty and fresh. Dipping sauce is just the same as Swiss Chalet (which is where I'll go next time because you get more for your dollar). Coffee not good and served in very small cups.

Mmmmmm.....chicken and ribs all reasonably priced. Nice atmoshere and staff. Clean bathrooms are a bonus

I love this place and have been there many times and never disappointed. Their chicken and ribs are incredible and fries are crispy and perfectly cooked. The only shame about this place is that it closes for the winter and I can’t eat there all year round :-)

Amazing cosy place, only opened during the summer season. But definitely a place to visit. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Chicken and ribs are the go to and they do not disappoint. Their original chicken sauce is great. A tiny bit sweet with a BBQ kicker. First time there but will definitely be returning as often as possible!!! Rice pudding, butterscotch sundae and strawberry pie are winners for dessert!!!!!!

Pies are always good..Have to try Root Beer Floats.an item from the past rarely seen anywhere any more. homemade sauce is still avsilable but for those that want gravy they have a basic gravy just ask for Haugens sauce or gravy..WE. Always get the original sauce the gravy Tastes too much like another restaurants sauce!!

Amazing ribs. Service was fast and the servers were very kind. The coconut cream pies are one of the best pies I've ever had. I don't leave this restaurant without having one of those.

I went here with my husband and son under the impression it was some great thing that it was not, the only good thing that came on my plate was the fries. The chicken had no flavor whatsoever and as soon as I bit in to my ribs I could taste that they were freezer burnt. As soon as that happened i stopped eating and waited for the cheque. 63 dollars for the bill and one of the worst dinners I've had this summer.

Rose and LoriAn are two of the servers at Haugen's. If you like freshly made pies and home styled cooked chicken and ribs on an open fire. This is the place to be in Scugog. Can get very busy at times.

One of the best ribs I ever ate

I’ve been going here with my family ever since I was a baby! I love it here, and even though I live an hour or so away, we always try to stop in on our road trips. My favourite is the chicken dinner, and their home made buns are delicious!

Ok. Bit of a trip down memory lane as it has been years since the last visit. Nothing has changed. Food is ok. Decor is dated.

great food, great company, great atmosphere

This place was nice. I think I would've like it more if the placed wasn't hyped as much. I got the pork and I've with chicken. The chicken was very moist but I wanted a little more seasoning. The staff is soon friendly. I would return again.
